The new Macan: Dare Forward

With the launch of the first generation Macan in 2014, Porsche broke away from the conventional thinking of the segment and inspired customers to expand their lifestyles by introducing Porsche's unique sporting style and driving experience while offering everyday usability. It is therefore fitting that the Porsche Macan ranked first in its segment at the 2021 J.D. Power APEAL study for the fifth year in a row, further enhancing its leading position in China, the Macan’s largest single market.

The new Macanis stronger, sharper and sportier, expressing its ethos to “Dare Forward” via its sharper look, elegant interior and surging power. In terms of design, the new Macan looks more muscular and imposing on the road, and the LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and Sport Design exterior mirrors are now standard on all models. For the interior, the new centre console makes use of touch surfaces instead of tactile buttons, bringing a clear structure to the cockpit. The Macan adopts the new multifunction and GT Sport steering wheels from the 911, with a new, shorter selector lever offering better ergonomics. Meanwhile, extensive online functions and assistance systems improve the convenience and safety. For its performance, Porsche has developed a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine for the base. The Macan S and Macan GTS now come with a new 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine. All engines are coupled to the seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) system and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system. A total of 14 colours are available for the new Macan, including three new colours: Papaya Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic, as well as Python Green for the Macan GTS with the GTS Sport package.

Jens Puttfarcken, President and CEO of Porsche China.“We're very proud to present the new Macan at the Chengdu Automotive Exhibition. R&D satellite location in China: Focus on the future and strengthen Porsche’s global layout

Since its entry into the Chinese market, Porsche has continued to expand its R&D competence in the country to enhance local R&D capability in terms of products and increase its understanding of Chinese customers. Now, Porsche will further expand its R&D layout in China by setting up an R&D satellite location in China, which will come into effect in 2022. The new R&D satellite location will improve the overall efficiency of local research and development by integrating the know-how and experiences of Porsche Engineering China, Porsche Digital China, and Porsche China Product Management Department. “Having a permanent home for this work in China will bring obvious benefits, particularly when it comes to reflecting and predicting our customer’s needs in China,” Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board at Porsche added. “The Chinese automotive market is very dynamic and customer preferences are highly specific. We want to meet these demands the best way possible.”

Porsche’s development work has a long tradition of using foreign development sites in search of tomorrow’s perfect sports car and services. To meet the needs of worldwide customers, Porsche has established a dedicated and ever growing network of permanent research and development locations around the world to carry out important engineering and design work – with the lessons learned finding their way into the finished cars. The network of permanent research, development and testing locations operated by Porsche is based on several continents – all directly linked to the company’s engineering home in Weissach (Germany). These range from the frozen lakes of Arjeplog in northern Sweden where the majority of extreme cold weather testing is conducted, to the unique climate and roads found in Johannesburg, South Africa to the dry heat of California, USA. This work affects not just dynamics and vehicle quality, but also comfort and convenience features and the technology fitted to current and future Porsche sports cars.

Based on customer demand, Porsche's sports car models shine at the 24th Chengdu International Automobile Exhibition. And with the forward-looking planning layout, Porsche's continuous technical and financial investment in China draw a blueprint for the future. Porsche welcomes you to explore more information.
