Last May, Porsche China officially relocated its Shanghai headquarters and its subsidiaries to Lujiazui, Shanghai’s financial hub. The new headquarters were designed with a philosophy known as S.P.A.C.E., which stands for Smart, Passionate, Attractive, Collaborative, and Engaging. This January, the new space was also awarded the WELL Certification at the gold level, becoming the first ever property of Porsche worldwide to be honoured with this distinction. Building a workspace that ensures employees’s mental health and job satisfaction is vitally important to WELL Certification and is also one of the essential creteria for the jury’s decisions in both awards.

The avant-grade interior design charaterises the Porsche China Headquarters: The themes of speed and passion speak boldly through a language of design; Flashing colours of the Porsche heritage put an eye on the lifestyle aspect of the brand and support the zoning of the space; A sculptural staircase connects the public area over five floors, fostering movement and communication; And Large bonsai trees visualise an aspiration of luxury while demonstrating its commitment to prioritizing employee health and well-being.

The Automotive Brand Contest is the only international design competition for automobile marques and has emerged as an important event in the sector. With the competition, the German Design Council honours outstanding product and communication design and draws attention to the fundamental importance of brand and brand design in the automotive industry. The Red Dot Award is established internationally as one of the most sought-after quality marks for good design. In order to assess the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the award breaks down into three competitions: the Red Dot Award: Prodcut Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept – each is organized once a year.

“The winners of the Red Dot Award have proven that they have created excellent products worthy of winning an award. The new headquarters of Porsche China, with its S.P.A.C.E. 4.0 concept, won over the jury not only through their aesthetic, but also thanks to their incomparable functionality. With their exceptional working-space designs, the award winners are setting new standards in the industry. I wish to congratulate them most sincerely on their success,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot.
