Porsche (China) Motors Limited to recall part of imported Panamera, 718 and 911 cars

In accordance with the Defective Automobile Products Recall Regulation and its implementation measures, Porsche (China) Motors Limited (hereinafter, “Porsche China”) has recently filed the following recalls to the State Administration for Market Regulation.

I. Commencing from April 08, 2019, Porsche China will recall part of imported 2018 Panamera cars manufactured from August 17, 2018 to September 26, 2018, affecting a total of 505 vehicles in China’s mainland.

The recall is related to a potential issue that due to soldering problems, the defective gateway control units may fail and could conditionally lead to an interruption of the communication between various control units. As a result, various error messages will be displayed in the instrument cluster. Vehicle driveability and starting behaviour may also be impaired, which poses a safety hazard. Porsche China will commission all authorized service centres nationwide to replace the gateway control free of charge for all vehicles affected by the potential issue.

II. Commencing from March 25, 2019, Porsche China will recall part of imported 2018 718 and 911 cars manufactured from October 24, 2017 to March 5, 2018, affecting a total of 223 vehicles in China’s mainland.

The recall is related to a potential issue that the screw fasteners between the side airbag sensors and chassis is not tightened as specified due to possible paint residue on the screw. In the event of a crash, the triggering of the restraint system may be impaired, which increases the risk of injury and poses a safety hazard. Porsche China will commission all authorized service centres nationwide to check the screw connection and rework or change the screw if necessary free of charge for all vehicles affected by the potential issue.

Porsche China will notify the relevant owners via registered mail, phone call, text message, etc. Affected users are encouraged to visit Porsche China's official website http://www.porsche.com/china or call the toll-free customer service centre hotline on 400 820 5911 or Porsche authorized dealers to find out more information about this recall.

We apologize for the any inconvenience that this recall brings to the affected customers. Porsche China is actively working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and to eliminate any potential safety hazards. Porsche always places the safety of our customers as the first priority, and will continue to provide high-quality products and services to Chinese consumers through continuous self-improvement.
