Porsche (China) Motors Limited to recall part of imported 2017-2019 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster cars

Commencing from March 25, 2019, Porsche (China) Motors Limited (hereinafter, “Porsche China”) will recall parts of imported 2017-2019 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster cars manufactured from March 2, 2016 to February 14, 2019. The recall was filed by Porsche China to the State Administration for Market Regulation and will affect a total of 15,942 vehicles in China’s mainland.

The recall is related to a potential issue that the lower longitudinal crash beam component could penetrate the bulkhead wall at the lower cross body component in case of a severe frontal crash, which might cause damage to the fuel tank. In extreme cases, damage to the fuel tank can result in fuel leakage, which increases the risk of fire in the vehicle and poses a safety hazard.

Upon the recall taking effect, Porsche China will commission all authorized service centers nationwide to fasten the lower longitudinal member with additional rivets free of charge for all vehicles affected by the potential issue.

Porsche China will notify the relevant owners via registered mail, phone call, text message, etc. Affected users are encouraged to visit Porsche China's official website http://www.porsche.com/china or call the toll-free customer service centre hotline on 400 820 5911 or Porsche authorized dealers to find out more information about this recall.
