What do I need to use the Porsche Digital Key?
To use the Porsche Digital Key your Porsche has to be equipped with the Porsche Digital Key. The Porsche Digital Key will be available for the model year 26 all-electric Macan as part of the Comfort Access option, in dedicated markets. The Digital Key uses either Ultra-Wideband (UWB) or Near Field Communication (NFC), depending on the customer’s smartphone.
With UWB-enabled phones, the Digital Key works like a classic key fob - users can lock, unlock, and start the vehicle without taking the phone out of their pocket or bag.
*These Phones support only NFC and Remote Keyless Entry via Bluetooth Low Energy. To unlock the vehicle, these phones require a physical tap on the door handle or the user has to use the Car Control Buttons within the Wallet app. To start the vehicle, these phones need to be placed on the phone cradle.
How do I set up the Porsche Digital Key for my Porsche?
The Porsche Digital Key is a digital vehicle key on your mobile device that you can use to lock, unlock and start your Porsche conveniently and securely. To set up the Porsche Digital Key once, you need a physical vehicle key in the vehicle interior and switch the vehicle on. Your Porsche and your device require a stable internet connection. Your mobile device must be compatible with the Porsche Digital Key and your Porsche must be linked to your Porsche ID in the My Porsche app. In addition, you must be logged into the infotainment system with your Porsche ID with an active Porsche Connect package. Open the My Porsche app > click on the "Porsche Digital Key" icon > start the pairing process by clicking on 'Set up now' and follow the further instructions in your Wallet app and on the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). The Porsche Digital Key is available in the Wallet app on your mobile device.
How do I share the Porsche Digital Key with friends and family?
You can distribute up to seven digital friend keys to different mobile devices.
iPhone: Open Apple Wallet on your iPhone. Select your car key. Tap on the 'More‘ button. Then tap on Invite and follow the instructions.
Android™: Open the Wallet app. Tap on your digital car key. If necessary, swipe until the symbol is visible. Tap on 'Share car key'.
Will I still receive a physical key?
Yes, you will continue to receive a physical key, even if your vehicle is equipped with the Porsche Digital Key. It offers you the full range of functions according to your model equipment and serves as a practical spare key when using the Porsche Digital Key as a master key.
How secure is the Porsche Digital Key?
Your Porsche Digital Key is securely stored on the secure element of your mobile device. In addition, both Near Field Communication (NFC) and Ultra Wideband (UWB) technologies are used to establish the immediate proximity of the sender and receiver in a tamper-proof manner.
What happens if I don't have an Internet connection?
An internet connection is only required to activate the Porsche Digital Key. As soon as the key is installed on your device, a connection is no longer required for locking and unlocking or starting the vehicle. This means you can use the Porsche Digital Key completely independently of the Internet, for example in underground garages or places with poor network coverage.
What happens when my device battery runs out?
You can still unlock and start your Porsche even if your mobile device appears to be out of battery. iPhones and compatible Android devices offer a power reserve mode that allows communication with the vehicle via Ultra Wideband (UWB) / Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Near Field Communication (NFC) for a limited time after shutdown. Please refer to your device manufacturer for details on availability and duration of this feature.
To unlock and start your vehicle, tap your device near the driver’s door handle and place it in the smartphone tray.
How do I transfer the Porsche Digital Key to the new owner when selling the vehicle?
Unpair your mobile device before you sell the car. To unpair your mobile device, delete your Porsche from your Porsche ID. The unpairing will automatically be triggered. All keys will be deleted. Alternatively, you can trigger the unpairing via PCM or via the My Porsche app. To register the new one, the new owner has to start the set up process for the Porsche Digital Key.
What is the Porsche Digital Key Card and what do I use it for?
The Porsche Digital Key Card is deactivated and supplied with your vehicle. It can be activated and used as a fully-fledged key if required. Simply place the card on the smartphone tray and follow the instructions on the HMI. You can find more detailed instructions in the My Porsche app.
Use the Porsche Digital Key Card in scenarios where a physical key normally must be handed over, e.g. for scheduled service appointments or valet parking. The card should therefore always be in your Porsche when deactivated. When it is activated, however, it must not remain in the vehicle for security reasons.
If the vehicle has been switched on with the Porsche Digital Key or the physical key directly after the Porsche Digital Key Card has been activated, the Porsche Digital Key Card will automatically deactivate.
To use the Porsche Digital Key, an active Porsche Connect package is required. The Porsche Digital Key is only available for selected vehicles and in specific markets. A compatible mobile device and operating system are required for use with both the My Porsche app and the Porsche Digital Key. An internet connection in both the vehicle and the smartphone is necessary. For information on My Porsche app compatibility, please refer to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
