The customary identifying features are there to be seen, including the strongly emphasised front wings, the long, downward sloping bonnet with its power dome, and the characteristic three-piece air intakes, which are even larger and more dominant.

Overall, the new Cayenne appears more broad-shouldered by comparison with the predecessor generation – making it more muscular, more athletic and more dynamic.

Even a touch edgier and more masculine: the new Cayenne Turbo. Its front apron has a particularly distinctive and imposing design with air intakes that are even larger than before. Numerous details painted in the exterior colour, e.g. the exterior mirrors or the wheel arch extensions, reinforce an even more prestigious appearance. Special highlight: the adaptive roof spoiler, which deploys to any of five positions, depending on the driving situation. At 21 inches, the wheels are larger – as exemplified by the new, optional 21-inch sCayenne Exclusive Design wheels.

The new Cayenne Turbo boasts features that emphasise the sporty side of its character: not least the exclusive steering wheel design. Or the adaptive Sports seats with memory package and – for the first time in the Cayenne – integrated headrests in the front and a deep embossed ‘turbo’ logo. The decorative strip design in cross-brushed aluminium is nothing less than exclusive.

New in all Cayenne models: the Porsche Advanced Cockpit control concept. The centre console with Direct Touch Control has a surface in glass look featuring touch-sensitive buttons for direct access to the most important functions. In between: the compact gear selector. Above the centre console is Porsche Communication Management (PCM), which features a full-HD 12-inch touchscreen display. Behind the multifunction Sports steering wheel is the new instrument cluster. To the right and left of the customary Porsche analogue rev counter – with classic needle design – are two high-resolution display screens that visualise virtual instruments, maps and other information as required.

The coloured ambient lighting – new in the Cayenne – is already standard with the new Cayenne Turbo and enriches the interior with clever light accents. You can choose from a variety of colour schemes for any mood and even change the light intensity to suit your preference.

All models impress with strengths typical of every Cayenne: spaciousness, great versatility and an array of carefully selected materials. Exactly what you desire, as there is also a wide range of personalisation options.

The Cayenne generation of engines has been redeveloped completely from scratch and they now offer even greater power and torque. Combined with a further improvement in efficiency.

The 404 kW (550 hp) rated twin-turbo V8 engine of the Cayenne Turbo is equipped with twin-scroll turbines. The exhaust streams arrive at the turbine wheel through physically separate channels – for optimised gas cycles. The result: high torque even at low engine speeds.

For efficiency, all engines also come with electrical system recuperation, thermal management and the auto start/stop function with coasting function.

Another essential platform for enhanced efficiency and further improved performance: Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA). PAA actively manipulates the aerodynamic behaviour of the car, e.g. by controlling numerous flaps integrated into the air intakes. The new adaptive roof spoiler is exclusive to the Cayenne Turbo.

The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine in the Cayenne Turbo

Producing 404 kW (550 hp), the new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with twin-scroll turbines proves to be particularly powerful. The maximum torque of 770 Nm is achieved between 1,960 and 4,500 rpm. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes only 4.1 seconds.

The rear seats, like the front seats, are designed to be either particularly comfortable or especially sporty and, therefore, also feature elevated side bolsters. Now even more flexible, they can be folded down in the ratio 40 : 20 : 40, offer 160 mm of fore/aft adjustment and boast 10 adjustment positions for the backrest angle (to 29 degrees). Depending on the model, the luggage compartment has a resulting capacity of between 745 litres and a maximum of 1,710 litres.

*With the rear bench seat in the Cayenne and Cayenne S folded down; up to 1,680 litres in the Cayenne Turbo.

Sometimes there are several ways to get us to our destination. These could be in the form of newly incorporated features, such as adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology or rear-axle steering.

Also new is integrated Porsche 4D Chassis Control. It centrally analyses the driving situation in all three spatial dimensions, e.g. pitch, roll and yaw. From this data, it computes the optimum driving states and synchronises all chassis systems in real time.

Adaptive air suspension

Adaptive air suspension enhances both driving dynamics and comfort at the same time. The use of three-chamber technology makes it possible to enjoy an even better combination of comfort and sportiness because the spring rate is adjusted to suit the driving mode and situation. The air suspension also features a self-levelling function to keep the vehicle level constant, PASM and a ride-height adjustment capability – so that you can actively vary the ground clearance as the need arises.

A new benchmark in performance and design – the new Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB).

The innovation behind this brake is the first ever combination of a cast-iron brake disc with a ceramic coating (tungsten carbide). Advantages over the conventional cast-iron brake of comparable construction and size: even better responsiveness and particularly high fading stability.

The brake dust formation associated with conventional brakes is reduced. Thanks to its new kind of surface coating, the brake disc retains its silvery sheen even after a long time in use. In addition, the ceramic coating helps to maintain a permanently shiny friction surface in everyday operation. Brake calipers with a white painted finish lend this brake its distinctive look.

By comparison with an equivalent grey cast iron brake disc of conventional design, PSCB offers a 30 % longer service life for the brake pad and brake disc. It comes fitted as standard to the Cayenne Turbo and is available as an option for all other Cayenne models.

Rear-axle steering

Optional rear-axle steering is available for the Cayenne models for the first time. It enhances performance and everyday practicality in equal measure. During low-speed manoeuvres, the system steers the rear wheels in the opposite direction to that of the front wheels. This has the virtual effect of shortening the wheelbase. The turning circle is reduced, agility is increased and parking becomes noticeably easier to manage. During high-speed manoeuvres, the system steers the rear wheels in the same direction as that of the front wheels. This virtual extension of the wheelbase increases driving stability.

PDCC is an active roll stabilisation system. It registers the lateral inclination of the body induced by cornering from the very outset and acts to suppress it. The system also reduces the lateral instability of the vehicle on uneven ground. What's new is the inclusion of electromechanical anti-roll bars. These respond faster than their hydraulic equivalents and work more efficiently. The result: improved performance.

Night Vision Assist

Night Vision Assist provides the driver with information even beyond the range of the headlights. An infrared camera detects pedestrians, deer and other large wildlife before they are illuminated by the headlights. In combination with PDLS Plus, the marker light function briefly flashes the headlight at the pedestrian on the kerbside or in the carriageway three times to alert the driver's attention.

The LED matrix beam strategically deactivates specific segments of the permanent main-beam cone. 84 individually controlled LEDs adapt to the situation ahead by switching off or dimming accordingly. Vehicles in front or in the oncoming lane are faded out, while the areas in between and to the side continue to receive full illumination.

PDLS Plus, which includes all the functions of PDLS, comes with electronic cornering lights and an Intersection Assistant function based on navigation data. As you approach a crossroads or T junction, the Intersection Assistant activates the left and right cornering lights, and the light cone becomes wider and shorter – for enhanced illumination of your surroundings.

Burmester® High-End 3D Surround Sound System

Quiet, please, as we introduce a total output of 1,455 watts, 21 individually controlled loudspeakers including an active subwoofer with 400-watt class D digital amplifier, two-way centre system and a total diaphragm surface area of more than 2,500 cm2. Special air motion transformer tweeters have been used for unmistakably fine, clear and undistorted high-frequency sound reproduction with excellent level stability.

All loudspeaker housings are perfectly matched and deliver superior bass foundation, definition and precision. The result is a natural and richly textured spatial sound, even at top volume. Particularly impressive is the new 3D sound experience, created by the loudspeakers integrated into the roof pillars and by the use of a special Auro 3D algorithm. The Sound Enhancer optimises the quality of music in compressed data format. BOSE® SoundTrue® enhancement technology delivers even greater better audio quality and dynamics for compressed file formats such as MP3. The patented AudioPilot® Noise Compensation Technology continuously measures the ambient noise inside the vehicle and adapts music playback automatically so that a consistent sound is maintained.

Sound Package Plus
