Porsche Cars Australia FAQ’s 3G Network Shutdown

What is 3G?
3G is a mobile network generation that has been operated by all Mobile Network Operators. In many regards, 3G was the foundation of mobile broadband which supports voice and data services.

When is the 3G network being shutdown?
From 28 October 2024, Telstra and Optus will shutdown their 3G networks. TPG Telecom/Vodafone has already switched off its 3G network.

Macan (MY 2019 – 2025)

Which services are affected?

If you are currently subscribed to the Navigation and Infotainment Package, you can continue to enjoy the below services by using your mobile phone to establish/tether an internet connection with your vehicle. For tethering instructions, please refer to your owner’s manual (Establishing data connection via external WiFi). If you require support, please contact your Official Porsche Centre.

Panamera (MY 2022)

Which services are affected?

If you are currently subscribed to the Navigation and Infotainment Package, you can continue to enjoy the below services by using your mobile phone to establish/tether an internet connection with your vehicle. For tethering instructions, please refer to your owner’s manual (Establishing data connection via external WiFi). If you require support, please contact your Official Porsche Centre.

Cayenne (MY 2019 - 2021)

Which services are affected?

Due to the decision by Australian telecommunications providers to shutdown their 3G networks, you will no longer be able to access Porsche Connect Remote Services and Breakdown Call packages (Search and Transfer Destinations, Calendar, Music streaming, Car Finder, Vehicle details, Trip data, Lock & Unlock, Climate, Charging, Location alarm, Speed alarm).

If you are currently subscribed to the Navigation and Infotainment Package, you can continue to enjoy the below services by using your mobile phone to establish/tether an internet connection with your vehicle. For tethering instructions, please refer to your owner’s manual (Establishing data connection via external WiFi). If you require support, please contact your Official Porsche Centre.

What if I require Breakdown Assistance after the 3G network is shutdown?

If you require breakdown assistance, please contact Porsche Assistance by calling 1800 659 911.

Will I be refunded for the services that are no longer available after the 3G network is shutdown?

If you are a paid subscriber of the Porsche Connect Remote Service package, you will receive a pro-rata refund effective from 28 October, the date of the 3G network shutdown. The refund will be paid to the bank account or credit card registered to your Porsche Connect account. Refunds are expected to be processed in November and December 2024.
