Historical Fabrics
A first encounter with a Porsche is unforgettable, thanks to its distinctive design and iconic interior fabrics. These original-quality materials are now available again, enabling authentic restoration of classic models.
That's because the 356 is no ordinary model. After all, it was the first series model to bear the Porsche name. It was built from 1948 to 1965 and, as the original 356, still contained many standard Volkswagen parts. Today the 356 lives on as an icon. And as a classic on the road. The driving pleasure has always remained.
However, the requirements have increased since the 1950s. This is particularly the case for safety components, such as the braking system. For this reason, your 356 should be regularly maintained and any worn parts should be replaced. However, the original spare parts have been used up over the years.
With a new edition of the brake drums, Porsche Classic is now able to remedy the situation on both of the Porsche 356 A's axles. They are completely on a par with the original equipment from the 50s. Because a simple like-for-like swap wasn't possible, the owners only had two options: Either to fall back on the brake drums from the 356 B, although this would require considerable amounts of time and money and the original look would be lost. Or to repair the old brake drum. Neither of these compromises were good enough for a 356 A in the long run. But with this new edition, 356 A owners now have a perfect solution once more. Of course, the brake drum is produced according to the original plans and has the original look. And just like the original 356 A brake drum, this new edition is made in Austria.
The complex manufacturing process of the Porsche Classic brake drum from one forged blank differentiates it from other spare parts on the market. The result? Porsche standards. After production, the brake drum successfully passed all internal test procedures. And of course the general operating permit is retained.
After all, your safety is paramount. The result is excellent: Classic driving pleasure combined with modern braking safety. Just as it should be for a Porsche icon.
An expense, but an investment in road safety that will be worth your while. Worn brake drums or drums that are no longer round can cause a wide range of faults. Brakes that pull unevenly, pulsate and have a tendency to lock are also a warning signal, just like excessive pedal travel. If one of these occurs, your brake drums should be checked by your Porsche Classic Partner or Porsche Centre – but ideally, they should be checked regularly even before the symptoms occur.
