PSM is an electronic control system for stabilizing the vehicle in extreme driving situations and for improving driving safety. Sensors constantly detect the direction of travel, speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration of the vehicle. Where necessary, PSM contributes to vehicle stabilization by means of selective braking at individual wheels. Another advantage is that if the driver releases the accelerator pedal suddenly, PSM automatically enables enhanced braking readiness. Maximum braking power is therefore achieved faster during braking. The integrated ABS is optimized for short braking distances and is standard in all new Macan models.
