Morocco’s south features an impressive wealth of varied countryside. Lush, verdant oases which look almost unreal against the scorched yellow earth. Barren mountains that make you feel like you are on another planet. Then, there’s the Sahara desert. With its tranquillity and constantly changing interplay of light and shadows, it will make you want to stay a while and marvel.
Please note that certain parts of the route and lunch on the first day are the same as on the Porsche Adventure Tour of Morocco. This is necessary in order to reach the destinations on this tour.
In the morning, you set off from Marrakech and head for Ouarzazate – known as the ‘gateway to the desert’. The magnificent ‘Route of 1,000 Kasbahs’ with its wealth of castles and fortresses, and the impressive dunes of southern Morocco are just a few of the exotic highlights along the way. In addition to a short stop for refreshments, you’ll also enjoy an extensive lunch at the famous Telouét Kasbah.
Arrive at Ouarzazate in the early afternoon, before taking a guided tour to discover the Taourirt and Tifoultoute Kasbahs.
Check-in at the Le Berbère Palace Hotel followed by dinner in the hotel’s stylish restaurant.
Today’s leg of the tour takes you from Ouarzazate to Zagora, once again along the ‘Route of 1,000 Kasbahs’ with its many oases and historical monuments. You will pass Skoura Palm Grove, El-Kelâa M’Gouna and Boumalne du Dades, and stop at all the best spots along the way. The itinerary also allows for a leisurely lunch.
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at your destination, Erg Chebbi (Merzouga), where you’ll spend the night in a luxury tent under a vast canopy of stars surrounded by the Saharan dunes.
Another highlight awaits you before dinner – a ride into the sunset on the back of a camel.
Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a dinner of Moroccan specialities and regional entertainment in a truly unique setting.
The route to Ouarzazate takes you through the stunning Draa Valley with its six different palm groves. Various cereal crops, henna, fruit, vegetables and dates are all grown in terrace-like fields in this valley. Continue through the impressive Atlas Mountains to Marrakech and your destination for the night: the Four Seasons Resort Marrakech. Over dinner in the hotel restaurant, you’ll have plenty of time to review the many experiences of the day.
Unfortunately, it’s time to set off on the transfer to Marrakech Airport for individual departure or continuation of your tour.
