Discover royal cities steeped in history such as Marrakech, Fès, Meknès, Rabat and Casablanca with their historic Islamic architecture, culinary delights and bustling medinas. In Morocco’s royal cities, you’ll delve into all aspects of Arabic culture and way of life. You’ll also get to explore the rich and varied hinterland with its small towns and unique landscape.
Set off early from Marrakech for an extensive day of driving. In the morning, you have the opportunity to visit the small towns of Beni Mellal, Azrou and Ifrane.
Stop off for a traditional regional lunch before continuing on to your destination for the night: the Sofitel Fès Palais Jamaï or Palais Faraj. In the late afternoon, enjoy some free time before dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Spend the morning exploring the fascinating city of Fès. Founded in the 8th century, it is the oldest of Morocco’s royal cities. In the north of central Morocco, it is considered the spiritual and cultural centre of the country. The old quarters of Fès el-Bali and Fès el-Djedid are UNESCO World Heritage sites whose architecture reflects various periods of rule. Admire the many monuments, browse the souks and explore the historical old town, where you also stop for lunch.
The afternoon is free to spend as you please. How about a stroll through the magnificent souks in the old town, for example? Or a relaxing pamper treatment in the hotel spa?
In the evening, you can savour some traditional Moroccan cuisine at the Riad Arabesque Restaurant before retiring once again to your room at the Sofitel Fès Palais Jamaï or Palais Faraj.
Today, you set off from Fès for the internationally renowned city of Casablanca. The route takes you past Meknès – another of Morocco’s royal cities. Meknès was founded in the 11th century and was the capital of the empire in the 17th century. After a brief visit, the tour continues to the coastal city of Rabat, the present capital of Morocco. Naturally, you will have some time to see the sights and stop off for lunch at a typical local restaurant.
Arrive in the late afternoon in Casablanca and check in at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Spend the evening relaxing at Rick’s Café, built and named after the location famously featured in the legendary 1942 Hollywood film Casablanca.
Before you bid farewell to Casablanca, you must pay a visit to the famous Hassan II Mosque. This is one of the world’s biggest mosques and, due to its 200 metre high minaret, it is also considered the tallest religious building in the world.
After the guided tour, it’s time for the transfer to Casablanca Airport for individual departure or continuation of your tour.
