Le Mans Series

The Le Mans Series (LMS) was established in 2004 and revives the memory of the classic 1000-kilometre sports car races of the Seventies and Eighties. Like the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) it also adopts the technical regulations of the Le Mans 24 Hours. This gives the teams and drivers scope for competing throughout an entire season of races instead of only at one unique event.

Full starting fields with the fastest LMP1, LMP2, GT1 and GT2 sport cars in the world promise high-calibre motor racing. The season consists of up to six races, held for the most part in Europe.

In 2007, Porsche works driver Marc Lieb and his team colleague Xavier Pompidou drove their way to vice championship honours in the GT2 class.

In the 2008 season, for the first time ever, RS Spyders owned by three private teams are entering the LMS, swelling the ranks of the successful field of Porsche customer teams driving 911 GT3 RSR cars.
