Team & drivers

The Porsche works-supported Penske Racing team enjoyed great success with the RS Spyder once again in 2008. The 2007 title defenders, Porsche works drivers Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas, won yet another team championship for Penske and also defended their driver's championship. Together with Emmanuell Collard, these two drivers also gained a victory in the 12 Hours of Sebring, a race steeped in tradition. Driving the second Penske RS Spyder, Porsche works drivers Patrick Long and Sascha Maassen won third and fourth place, respectively, in the driver's competition. Penske also had a third RS Spyder with drivers Ryan Briscoe and Heli Castroneves entered in the last two races. And they met with success: Briscoe/Castroneves won a class victory in the "Petit Le Mans".

The US private team Dyson Racing, supported by Porsche as part of its successful customer sport programme, also raced two RS Spyder cars and won third place in the team competition. Chris Dyson, Guy Smith, Butch Leitzinger, Marino Franchitti and Andy Lally took turns in the RS Spyder cockpits.
