Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, in February delivered 2,071 vehicles in North America in a difficult market environment. The
26 percent downturn in comparison to the equivalent month of the previous year resulted from the model change at Cayenne, where production was discontinued in November 2006. In February 2007, the last vehicles of the first Cayenne generation were delivered to customers. The new Cayenne can only be seen in the showrooms of the American dealers from March 3. For this reason, sales of the series declined year-on-year by 60 percent to 381 vehicles. But this made it possible to avoid having the predecessor model standing next to the new Cayenne at the dealers. The high number of orders for the second Cayenne generation which uses 15 percent less fuel due to the gasoline direct injection leads one to expect that Porsche will follow on the sales successes of the predecessor model with the new Cayenne.
In February, a delivery figure of 1,127 vehicles in the USA and Canada for the 911 exceeded the previous-year figure of 928 units by 21 percent; this included 290 units of the 911 Turbo. Of the Boxster series, 561 vehicles were sold in North America, 342 of which related to the Cayman and the Cayman S. In comparison to February 2006, this is a decline of
38 percent. However, the figures only have limited comparability, as the equivalent month of the previous year was impacted by very high demand for the Cayman S which had just been launched at that time.
