Turbo effect kicks in for Porsche in North America911 model series breaks new record in June

Stuttgart. In June 2006, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, sold 3,058 vehicles in North America. The manufacturer of sporty premium cars has again increased sales in its most important sales market as compared to the previous year, when 2,770 units were sold (plus 10.4 percent). In the first six months of 2006, Porsche increased deliveries to the US and Canada by 14.2 percent to 19,710 vehicles. This is the highest volume for this period in the history of the Company.

In June, Porsche's success in North America was especially driven by the 911 model line. Although the 911 Turbo was only on sale for the last week of June, it sold 264 units. Compared to June 2005 (665 units), the 911 doubled its sales overall to 1,333 cars. The Boxster series also saw growth, reaching 913 units (plus 5 percent), 442 of which were the new Cayman S.

Sales of the sporty all-terrain vehicle, the Cayenne, reached 807 units, representing a decline of 33.7 percent. As Porsche does not assist sales with discounts, in contrast to competitors, this result is entirely satisfactory. In the first six month of 2006 the Cayenne sold 6,002 units representing a decline of 14,5 percent.
