Porsche

Biofuel

To protect the environment, we offer sophisticated technical solutions that mean a Porsche can be driven with a greater proportion of alternative fuel. And yet remain a Porsche.

[+]Ethanol as an alternative to petrol

Biofuel blending.

All of our cars will comply with the strict requirements of the EURO 5 emissions standards well before they come into effect. Already, all Porsche engines can be fuelled with a blend of 10 per cent ethanol and, in fact, the Cayenne –suitable for driving almost anywhere on the planet – can use up to 25 per cent biofuel (ethanol), depending on the country. Our racing engines also use biofuel. The high-performance power unit on the RS Spyder, for example, is designed for a 10 per cent ethanol blend and takes Porsche from victory to victory in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).

Flexible fuel vehicle in development.

What is more, we are working on a flexible fuel vehicle (FFV) at our development centre in Weissach that can run on a blend of 85 per cent ethanol, as well as petrol.
