PSM is an electronic control system for stabilising the vehicle in extreme driving situations and for improving driving safety. Sensors constantly detect the direction of travel, speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration of the vehicle. Where necessary, PSM contributes to vehicle stabilisation by means of selective braking at individual wheels. Another advantage is that if the driver releases the accelerator pedal suddenly, PSM automatically enables enhanced braking readiness. Maximum braking power is therefore achieved faster during braking. The integrated ABS is optimised for short braking distances and is standard in all new Macan models.
