Other energy-saving technologies include the ability to coast along in certain situations, e.g. when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal to reduce your speed slowly. The engine is decoupled from the transmission and slowed to idle speed to prevent deceleration caused by engine braking. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid goes one step further: it can switch the combustion engine off completely while driving.
