It is widely recognised that the most important component of any vehicle is the driver. If the driver is relaxed and focussed, then the stress of a long journey becomes less tiring. If the driver is in turn more alert behind the wheel, they react better to road and traffic conditions. Ultimately, the driver's overall wellbeing can ensure they arrive at their destination safely, feeling refreshed, and having enjoyed the drive. January is the perfect time to get the New Year off to a flying start with a visit to the Porsche Human Performance Centre to get you feeling fitter, be that on the road or the race track.
The Porsche Human Performance Centre is based at the world-class Porsche Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire and is staffed by a team1 of three sports scientists who offer a rare combination of academic qualifications, exercise science and coaching. They have broad experience of working at the highest level in motor sport and competitive backgrounds as elite athletes and are trained to provide expert assessments of health and fitness levels and how this relates to driving performance and technique.
Porsche Human Performance service offers a wide variety of programmes2 tailored to individual ambitions. This can prescribe bespoke consultation, exercise and nutritional plans, whether its advice on posture in the driver's seat, eyesight strength and peripheral vision performance or more formal health analysis such as body composition and fat:muscle ratio or a Pro-Am Motorsport fitness programme.
The facility includes a sports science laboratory, fitted out with state of the art equipment3 from Technogym and Optical Express as well as a specialist acclimation heat chamber for acclimation training for racing drivers prior to competing in hot climates.
