Stuttgart. Porsche is delighted to welcome Schaeffler Group and Veltins brewery as Official Partners of the works team for the return to the top category of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Also new on board the Le Mans prototype (LMP1) in the Sportscar World Championship: the U.S. cell supplier A123 Systems. The global Porsche cooperation partners ExxonMobil (lubricants) and Michelin (tyres) are likewise moving into top-class motor racing.
Fritz Enzinger, Vice president LMP1, explains: “These partners are featured owing to their strong identification with the Porsche brand – be it due to long-standing collaboration, thanks to an extensive technical exchange or both. Naturally, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking place in June, represents not merely the greatest challenge in terms of racing but constitutes the highlight of the season in terms of marketing as well. At this event and in seven more World Championship races, we want to present ourselves together with our partners as a competitive team.”
As a renowned supplier of technologies for engine, gearbox and chassis as well as for the optimisation of the combustion power train, hybrid components and technologies for e-mobility, the Schaeffler Group has been a highly appreciated development partner of Porsche AG for many years now. The long-term commitment as Official Partner of the Porsche LMP1 team will reinforce this connection significantly. Customer loyalty programmes and global communication activities take centre stage for Schaeffler. The logo of the Schaeffler Group will be visible on the rear wings of both new Porsche 919 Hybrid vehicles. (More information at: www.schaeffler-group.com)
