Please select the category on which you would like further information. Please also feel free to contact us personally on +49 (0)711 911 - 23364.
What training levels are on offer and how do they build on each other?
The driver safety courses at the Porsche Sport Driving School are broken down into the training levels Warm-up and Precision (introductory training courses) and, building on these basic courses, Performance, Master and Master RS (training course licensed by DMSB e.V.). It should be noted that to participate in the Performance training course participants must have already completed the Precision level, while participants on the Master and Master RS courses must have already completed the Performance level. The programme also includes various special courses such as g-Force drift training, Classic Cars, Super Sport and Fast Track.
What is the difference between the Warm-up and Precision training?
On the Warm-up training (one day course), participants learn the basics of driving safely and how to control their vehicle. It is to be noted that the Warm-up course consists purely of section training, without completing full laps of the circuit. On certain sections, participants will have the opportunity to drive the new Porsche Macan. On the Warm-up SUV course, participants must drive their own Porsche Cayenne, or one hired from Porsche, the new Porsche Macan or another make of SUV. The Precision training (two day course) covers a section training with various driving exercises on the first day while, on the second day, participants get to complete full laps of the circuit, either as a passenger or driver. At the end of the training event, participants take passenger rides in the instructors’ vehicles.
What are the options for first time participants?
Anyone wishing to participate in training at the Porsche Sport Driving School for the first time can begin with the one day Warm-up course or the two day Precision course. Please note that the Warm-up course is not a prerequisite for participation in training at the next level up. However, participants must complete the Precision level before moving onto the Performance course.
Is it possible to go straight to the Performance or Master training levels?
Drivers who have already attended various training courses at other establishments and have therefore gained a basic knowledge of how to handle the vehicle correctly can go straight to the higher training levels. In this case, the Porsche Sport Driving School will need to see documentation of any other training courses attended, along with an official list of the items covered by this training. If the content of the completed training courses corresponds to the learning objectives and standards of the Porsche Sport Driving School, the participant will be allowed to start with the Performance training level, following consultation with the project management. Participants may only go straight to the Master or Master RS training course in exceptional cases.
Are there any age restrictions on eligibility for the training?
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driving licence.
Can I take part in my own Porsche?
Yes, provided it is covered by statutory third-party insurance which complies with the German road traffic licensing regulations. Further details can be found in the Terms and Conditions of the Porsche Sport Driving School. As this is the vehicle you usually drive on public roads, we recommend participation in your own vehicle to maximise your learning success. We also recommend that customers check with their car insurers to ensure the validity of their third-party vehicle insurance and, if applicable, their comprehensive insurance cover with regard to any planned participation in a course at the Porsche Sport Driving School.
Can I take part in Porsche training in another make of vehicle?
Yes, participants are very welcome to take part in our training events in vehicles of other makes.
Can I hire a Porsche vehicle for the training?
Yes, Porsche cars may be hired (subject to availability) for the duration of Porsche Sport Driving School events for a hire fee (varies according to training level). In this case, a separate car hire agreement must be signed with a damage excess (varies according to model and training level). Participants do not have any entitlement to a specific Porsche car model.
Are the costs for hire cars already included in the training fee?
No, the stated training prices only cover participation in your own vehicle. If you hire a vehicle for the course, an additional fee will be charged for the car hire (varies according to training level). For an overview click here..
Are there any age restrictions on hiring a Porsche vehicle?
Yes. The same age restriction applies here as for participation in the training: participants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driving licence.
Can hire cars be swapped during the training?
No. As the signed hire agreement applies to a specific hire car only, participants cannot swap Porsche hire cars.
What insurance coverage is provided for Porsche hire cars?
Porsche hire cars are registered in the name of Porsche and covered by third-party vehicle insurance. The insurance provides personal compensation of up to a maximum amount of €7.5 million for each claim and unlimited cover for property and financial damages. Fully comprehensive insurance is not provided. However, in the case of any damage, hire participants will be treated as if the car was covered by fully comprehensive insurance with an excess.
How high is the excess?
The excess differs for individual events: for the Warm-up, Precision and Women Only courses, it is €5,000; for the Performance, Master and Master RS courses and for special training it is €10,000. When hiring Turbo and GT models, irrespective of the training level, the damage excess is €10,000.
Will my insurance bear the repair costs for my private vehicle in the event of damage?
The Porsche Sport Driving School Training Objectives and Terms and Conditions expressly point out that the driver safety training courses are “not aimed at achieving maximum speeds”. The Porsche Sport Driving School driver safety training courses aim to help participants to improve their driving skills and driving safety. This should also help to increase safety in everyday road traffic situations and generally reduce the number of accidents on the road. We recommend that participants check with their car insurers to ensure the validity of their third-party vehicle insurance and, if applicable, their comprehensive insurance cover with regard to any planned participation in a course at the Porsche Sport Driving School.
Is it possible to take out supplementary insurance for participation in the training with my private vehicle through the Operator?
No. No supplementary insurance is offered by the Operator.
How can I register for a training course?
In order to register for a driver safety training course at the Porsche Sport Driving School, the prospective participant must complete a registration form (to be found here under the corresponding date). This form must then be signed and sent to the fax number shown, posted or scanned and sent by e-mail to the Porsche Sport Driving School. The Operator endeavours to provide participants with written confirmation in the form of an invoice within 10 days of submitting the registration.
Is it also possible to register online?
No. For legal reasons, online registration is unfortunately not possible at present. However, participants can complete the registration form on the website. The completed form must then be printed out and forwarded to the Porsche Sport Driving School for processing as outlined above.
As of when is it possible to register for training courses in the following season?
New training dates for the FIA-certified on-road circuit at Porsche Leipzig and dates for the LuK Driving Center Baden can be viewed on the website from December. It is then possible to register for these dates.
When are the racetrack dates set?
The Porsche Sport Driving School training dates at well-known racetracks such as the Nürburgring, Spa-Francorchamps, Autodromo Imola, etc., are not available until around February in the relevant season (depending on the finalised motorsports calendar for the respective racetracks), at which point they can be viewed on the Porsche Sport Driving School website. The dates are also forwarded to registered customers by post as soon as they have been finalised. Registration is then possible from this point onwards.
By when should prospective participants register for a training course?
After deciding on a specific training date, we recommend that participants register straight away. Confirmation of places on training courses is provided according to the order in which the corresponding registrations are received. While a telephone enquiry may reveal that places are still available on that day, for example, these may have been allocated on the following day in response to written or faxed registrations. Some training courses are fully booked months in advance. It is therefore advisable to register as soon as possible after the dates have been published on the internet.
Why hasn’t my registration been confirmed yet?
Due to the large number of enquiries and registrations received every day, the written confirmation process may take a little time. The Operator endeavours to provide participants with written confirmation in the form of an invoice within 10 days of submitting the registration. Participants are welcome to enquire beforehand by e-mail or telephone (+49 (0)711 911-23364) to check whether their registration has been received and is being processed and/or whether they are registered/eligible to participate in the relevant training course.
Why am I no longer able to register for a course, even though the date was still available for booking on the internet?
A training course is fully booked upon receipt of the last possible registration. There is usually a slight delay before the status online can be updated to “fully booked”. Unfortunately, this means that it may not be possible for us to accept a registration received during this period (although the participant can go on the waiting list). Participants can only be assured of their participation in the training once they have received confirmation of participation.
What cancellation terms apply at the Porsche Sport Driving School?
The cancellation terms can be found in the Terms and Conditions of the Porsche Sport Driving School.
When must I transfer the training fee?
After conclusion of the contract, a deposit of 20% of the total price will become due when the confirmation/invoice and insolvency insurance certificate are issued. The balance must be paid 30 days before the start of the event without any further reminder. If payments are not made in advance, participation in the training will not be possible. It will not be possible to make payments on the day at the event itself.
How can I pay the training fee?
Payments can be made by transfer, direct debit or credit card.
Payments by transfer to the account of the Porsche Sport Driving School can only be made in euros. In the case of payment by direct debit, the Operator will need details of the participant’s bank account and address or the address of the person receiving the documents, if appropriate, as well as authorisation to charge the bank account. In the case of payment by credit card, the card details will be requested separately when booking. The Operator will also need the address of the participant or, where relevant, the address of the person receiving the documents, as well as authorisation to charge the current account via the credit card.
When will I receive the final detailed training information pack?
The Operator endeavours to provide participants with a detailed training information pack at the latest 10 days before the start of the relevant event. Participants should notify the Porsche Sport Driving School of any discrepancies with regard to the reservation before the event.
Can I purchase gift vouchers for training courses?
Gift vouchers are available for all training courses offered by the Porsche Sport Driving School (please note the relevant training requirements). The voucher order form must be completed and faxed or posted to the Porsche Sport Driving School for processing. The purchaser will receive an invoice after a processing period of around 3-5 working days. The voucher is forwarded to the purchaser after receipt of payment (please state invoice number when making transfer) and only then becomes valid.
Can I obtain a gift voucher at short notice?
Processing of the voucher can be speeded up if the person placing the order sends the Porsche Sport Driving School a payment receipt (e.g. remittance advice from the relevant bank) following receipt of the invoice. It is to be noted in this respect that the Porsche Sport Driving School has no control over how long it takes for the postal services to deliver the voucher.
To whom is the voucher sent?
As a general rule, the voucher is sent to the purchaser. On request, however, the voucher can also be sent directly to another person.
Do I have to specify a particular training date when ordering a voucher?
All of our vouchers are issued for the desired amount and not for a specific training date. Vouchers may only be redeemed against services listed in the Porsche Sport Driving School brochures.
If a specific date is desired, the purchaser can complete a registration form for the voucher recipient straight away. The purchaser then receives what is referred to as a ‘voucher certificate’ for presentation.
Is the recipient registered for the training directly upon the order being placed for a voucher?
The voucher holder will only be registered for a training course after completing the enclosed registration form and sending it to the Porsche Sport Driving School. Successful registration is contingent on places being available for the desired training date and, where applicable, the participant having the necessary training qualifications.
How long is the voucher valid for?
Vouchers shall be valid for a period of 3 years from the end of the year in which they are issued.
What formalities are to be carried out at the start of training at the training venue?
On the morning of the training day, participants are requested to register at the Porsche desks. In the course of registration, name badges and information on the training are handed out and a liability waiver is signed. Participants using a Porsche hire car also have to sign a car hire agreement (driving licence and credit card must be presented). Participants will not be able to take part in the driver training without signing the aforementioned documents.
In what languages are the training courses offered?
The instructions can be provided in English as well as German. Other languages may be offered for individual training events on request. For safety reasons, it is not possible for drivers to participate in our courses if they do not have the necessary language skills.
How many participants are there in a group?
Depending on the size of the racetrack, the group size within a training course is limited to a maximum of 12 drivers in order to ensure optimum learning achievement.
Can I be allocated to a group together with a friend or acquaintance?
Wherever possible, the Porsche Sport Driving School is pleased to consider individual wishes regarding group allocations. However, such requests must be made prior to the training using the registration form, for example. The possibilities for making changes at the training venue itself are limited.
Are the training courses still carried out in bad weather conditions?
In adverse weather conditions, such as rain, the driver safety courses at the Porsche Sport Driving School are still carried out and adapted to suit the relevant conditions. In order to ensure maximum safety for all participants at all times, the Porsche Sport Driving School reserves the right to interrupt or cancel training courses, e.g. due to storms or severe weather conditions.
What type of clothing should I wear for the training?
Participants should choose suitable clothing for the weather conditions expected at the time of the training course. During the training, the Porsche Sport Driving School recommends comfortable clothing and sturdy, comfortable footwear (no high heels or flip flops). For events in the summer, participants should remember to bring headwear and sun cream.
Are helmets and racing suits provided for the training?
Racing suits are not provided as they are not required for driver safety training courses at the Porsche Sport Driving School. It is compulsory to wear a helmet when completing laps (also when travelling as a passenger on some racetracks). Participants are welcome to bring their own helmets. The Operator provides a limited number of helmets in a range of sizes on payment of a deposit.
Can I book a personal instructor for the training?
Subject to availability, a personal instructor can be booked for all courses offered by the Porsche Sport Driving School on request (exception: special conditions and prices apply for training courses at the Nürburgring, Nordschleife).
What is data recording?
Data recording is available on request and subject to availability for training courses at the Porsche Sport Driving School. For enhanced learning progress and a more intensive training experience. This can be booked for all training events subject to availability, if the services of a personal instructor have been reserved. Further information can be found here.
Does the training fee include accommodation costs?
Hotel costs are only included in the package price for special events. We are happy to recommend a hotel to customers participating in standard training events. Customers can then book their own rooms at our partner hotels at a special Porsche rate. Rooms must be paid for by the customer when checking out of the hotel. Naturally, participants are free to arrange their own accommodation.
What is understood by the term ‘accompanying person’?
An accompanying person must be paid for and ‘accompanies’ the active participant in his or her training with the Porsche Sport Driving School. The accompanying person may attend the theory briefing and accompany the participant as a passenger during section training (exception: full laps of the circuit – in this case, the accompanying person may sit in the instructor’s vehicle on request subject to availability). An accompanying person does not participate actively in driving activities. However, just like the active participant, they can make full use of our catering services throughout the event.
Can children participate in training as an accompanying person?
Children aged 12 or more may accompany the driver in the Warm-up and Precision section training sessions. However, another adult must be available on site to oversee any children aged 16 or under during lap driving sessions. Employees of the Porsche Sport Driving School cannot accept responsibility for supervising children. Both parents must sign a liability waiver for the minor. For Performance, Master and Master RS training levels as well as for special courses, the minimum age for accompanying persons is 18.
