Porsche Parade USA 2007More than 2.000 participants at the 52nd Parade in San Diego

From July 1st to 5th San Diego and the surrounding area were the locations of the 52nd Porsche Parade USA. Porsche Club members from all over the United States and around the world came together to celebrate their passion for Porsche and to exchange experiences in a festive setting.

The event was opened with a Welcome Party at the Town & Country Hotel on the first evening. Around the pool under open skies the guests were entertained by the Classic Rock Band ‘Rockola’.

The next day the jury evaluated 122 vehicles at the Concours d´Elégance in the Admiral Baker Recreation Park. In addition to these cars another 30 historic vehicles and overall approximately 35 Porsche 356 were presented. The brightly polished vehicles from different eras as well as the brilliant weather invited an audience of well over 1.200 people to stroll among the exhibits. The day was rounded off by the Concours Banquet and the Concours Awards ceremony at the Town & Country Hotel.

On the third day the participants had the chance to start in different Rallies and to learn more about the latest Porsche technologies during a Tech Talk. Following this it was off to the Beach Party on Coronado Island where the so called “Zone Challenge” and a Mexican dinner were arranged.

On the morning of day four, 411 club members raced in the Autocross competition at the Qualcomm Stadium and the sponsor Michelin offered participants the opportunity to test the company’s tires. And even the little participants had the chance to show their skills in a Children’s Challenge. The Family Day at Sea World which was organized in the afternoon also attracted a great deal of attention. In a private pavilion the guests could enjoy the buffet dinner while the Autocross Awards were presented. The July 4th fireworks over the harbor directly in front of the pavilion concluded the evening.

After a Tech Quiz on the last day the evening was dedicated to a naval theme. The Porsche Club of America invited to the President’s Reception on the ‘Star of India’ before then all guests arrived for the Victory Banquet on the USS Midway in San Diego Harbor. During the Banquet the
RS Spyder was displayed, the Club members received their Tech Quiz Awards and Mr. Hans-Peter Porsche closed the festive evening with his speech.

With over 2.000 participants the Porsche Parade USA 2007 was so far the biggest Club event in the history of the Porsche Club of America and we take an expectant glance on the next years. Dates and places for the following Parades have already been scheduled. In 2008 the 53rd USA Porsche Parade will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina from
June 29th to July 3rd and the following year the Parade will be held at the Keystone Ski Resort, Colorado and is planned for June 30th until
July 4th. For these events the Porsche Club of America is also looking forward to such a great participation.
