Once again their great love of detail meant that the Porsche enthusiasts were unable to conceal their enthusiasm. 222 gleaming Porsche vehicles from all eras were put forward for a rigorous assessment by the jury. Once again, the Concours d’Elegance provided one of the finest snapshots of this year's USA Porsche Parade in Traverse City, Michigan.
Between 23rd and 29th June 2013, 2,000 members of the Porsche Club of America (PCA), guests and sponsors pursued their passion in Michigan’s state capital and enjoyed events including an autocross competition, a rally, the display of the vehicles and many information events relating to Porsche. Visitors were able to gain an impression of the many different aspects of the world of Porsche, while enjoying the generous hospitality. Porsche Exclusive & Tequipment, Porsche Consulting, Porsche Canada, e-mobility, Driver’s Selection by Porsche Design – and Porsche Classic, of course - all set out their displays on around 200 square metres. Everything reflecting this year’s anniversary motto: 50 years of Porsche 911.
Many participants took advantage of the opportunity to get advice directly from the Classic experts from Zuffenhausen and the USA. The selection of Classic genuine parts placed prominently also attracted a great deal of interest. Visitors were impressed by the elaborate production of the 911 body parts, which production stages have been illustrated in a photo documentation on a large graph and could be admired by visitors. Not be lost, the production of lightweight components for the legendary Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 in this representation. As a highlight, visitors were able to examine the unpainted body of an original Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (model year 1973) on-site. This classic, which belongs to a customer from Hong Kong, is currently being restored in the Porsche Classic workshop near Stuttgart.
Numerous photographs and films of the restoration, spare parts production, but also the 911 models of the individual decades round off the offerings.
Porsche Classic's participation in the Tech Academy already for the second time added the finishing touch to its strong outing. By providing slideshows and on the basis of the exposed body, the specialists gave an introduction to the restoration area at Porsche Classic. This introduction met with great interest to the club members.
