Stuttgart. In its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has appointed Dr. Oliver Blume (44) to the sports car manufacturer's Executive Board as successor to Wolfgang Leimgruber (63). Mr. Blume will head the Production and Logistics section as of January 1, 2013. After well over 35 years with the company, Leimgruber will be going into retirement. But he will continue to draw from his experience to advise Volkswagen Group.
Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG, and Matthias Müller, President and CEO of Porsche AG, expressed their gratitude on behalf of the Supervisory Board and the Board of Management to Mr. Leimgruber for his long-standing commitment to the Stuttgart-based company and for his outstanding achievements, which had led him to the Executive Board of Porsche AG three years ago. During the time prior to this, the graduated mechanical engineer had worked in various responsible positions in the Production department for Porsche AG. Decisions that pointed the way ahead were implemented during his time as Member of the Executive Board Production and Logistics, among them the construction of the new paint shop at the Zuffenhausen location. Furthermore he was responsible for the expansion of the Leipzig plant into a full-blown body construction and paint plant for the production of the Macan sports SUV. With the new generation of the 911 with the Zuffenhausen standard production, Leimgruber also introduced completely new production technologies and processes in the parent plant owing to the intelligent aluminium/steel lightweight construction of the new sports cars.
“You raised the bar very high and have earned outstanding merit at Porsche,” President and CEO Müller praised the departing Head of Production. Müller also showed great satisfaction in having gained with Mr. Blume “a renowned production expert for Porsche AG.” The graduated mechanical engineer (44) began his career as a trainee at Audi 18 years ago. In Ingolstadt, he worked in the planning department of the paint shop, headed the body construction of the Audi A3, was assistant to the Board Member Production and subsequently assumed the cross-location management of the Audi pilot plant. On an international level, he worked for SEAT in Barcelona from 2004 to 2009, where he was responsible for both planning and the pilot series centre, prior to taking over the worldwide production-planning of the Volkswagen brand in Wolfsburg three and a half years ago.
Great challenges await Mr. Blume at Porsche AG: Two completely new models will be going into production with the new sports SUV Macan and the super sports car 918 Spyder.
