Elegant, harmonious, refined –
not just true of a good Burgundy.
This tour of Burgundy and Alsace is a gourmet and wine connoisseur’s dream, offering Epicurean delights renowned the world over paired with landscapes of outstanding natural beauty and a rich cultural heritage. Your first impressions of the Burgundy region will be dream-like in character – quaint little villages with ancient half-timbered buildings, attractive vineyards and cosy wine bars.
Your tour begins in Ludwigsburg, where you collect your Porsche for the tour. The first leg takes you along the motorway and past Karlsruhe, stopping off for lunch near Wissembourg. You then continue on winding roads through the glorious countryside of northern Alsace to your destination for the night: the Le Parc Hotel in Obernai near Strasbourg. As soon as you arrive, you’re sure to succumb to the charms of this hotel, which was built in 1954 and provides the ideal surroundings in which to round off the day in a relaxing atmosphere.
Today, you take to the driver’s seat once again and set off along the Alsace Wine Road, past picturesque wine-producing villages and along the winding roads of the Vosges mountains – to the delight of both yourself and your Porsche. Stop for lunch at the Les Ducs de Lorraine restaurant in Épinal. Enjoy a wine tasting session and a dinner of regional specialities, before retiring to your room at the Abbaye de la Bussière Hotel. Highlights at this traditional establishment include a splendid 15-hectare park and excellent cuisine.
From Burgundy with its famous wine-growing locations, you set off along magnificent country roads through the Côte-d’Or. Stop for lunch in Besançon, before continuing through Mulhouse to your destination for the night: the Colombi Hotel in Freiburg – one of the few luxury hotels in the city and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The owner-managed hotel looks back on a long tradition and is renowned for its excellent food, which you can try for yourself over a gourmet dinner following a champagne reception.
On your last day, you set off from Freiburg along the small, winding roads through the Black Forest, stopping for lunch at the beautifully situated Traube Tonbach restaurant in Baiersbronn. Enjoy the culinary creations of head chef Henry Oskar Fried served in an elegant, rustic atmosphere, before savouring every mile in your Porsche on the final stretch back to Ludwigsburg.
