At this year’s Techno Classica in Essen, Porsche Classic once again presented its comprehensive range of services in the areas of repair, maintenance, care, restoration and the supply of genuine parts for all model lines of classic Porsche sports cars worldwide.
The Techno Classica in Essen – the world’s leading motor show for classic cars – celebrated new ‘personal bests’ in 2011: some 180,000 visitors from more than 40 countries experienced an exciting fair whose motto was “Share the Passion”.

At the fair, Porsche Classic showcased a partially-restored 911 T US Coupé from 1973. The 38-year-old 911 is currently being fully restored in the Porsche Classic workshop and will be raffled among the members of the Porsche Club of America (PCA) in the summer. An app, that we have developed in-house, allowed visitors to see the individual restoration steps on site using new iPads.You can also follow the work on this vehicle online on the Classic homepage at www.porsche.com/classic.
This year however, in addition to the vehicles, the Porsche Classic genuine spare parts took centre stage on the Porsche stand. Many of the parts that were used in the restoration of the 911 T were displayed in a high shelving system, while visitors used the opportunity to get in-depth advice from the Porsche Classic experts on the stand. However, as there are Porsche spare parts that are no longer in production and are therefore not currently in the range, Porsche Classic offered visitors the opportunity to enter their parts requests directly into the iPads provided. The input of Porsche customers helps Porsche Classic to decide on future relaunches.
Another focus at the Porsche stand was the anniversary, “25 years of Porsche Exclusive”. In 1986, the “Sonderwunschprogramm” (Special Wishes Program) became Porsche Exclusive. For the past 25 years, Exclusive has been offering the highest level of personalisation, straight from the factory, with limited production runs and custom-made products that started in the early 1980s with the Porsche 935 Street. For example, with vehicles such as the 911 Turbo Slant Nose of 1986, the 911 Turbo S Lightweight of 1992 and the 911 Turbo S of 1997. A personalized Porsche 911 Turbo S from the current series as well as a 959 that was custom-finished as long ago as the late 1980s were exhibited as show vehicles.
The Porsche Museum completed the comprehensive offering at the Porsche stand, with information on the Exclusive special museum exhibition, as well as the Porsche Design Driver’s Selection sales truck, which offered a selection from the current collection.
