New Porsche 919 Hybrid finishes fourth in Spa Sports Car World Championship WEC, round 2, Spa-Francorchamps/Belgium

Stuttgart . Following the podium finish at the season’s opener in Silverstone, the new Porsche 919 Hybrid came fourth at the six hours race in Spa-Francorchamps. Driving duties were shared by Romain Dumas (France), Neel Jani (Switzerland) and Marc Lieb (Germany). They had started from pole position with the innovative prototype for what was only the second race after Porsche’s return to the top class of the Sports Car World Championship WEC. For a long time they were leading the race and just missed another podium finish.

In the GTE-Pro class the Porsche 911 RSR of Jörg Bergmeister (Germany) and Patrick Pilet (France) came second. The second 911 RSR from the Porsche Team Manthey with Marco Holzer (Germany) and Frédéric Makowiecki (France), who had won the opening round of the championship, finished sixth.
