The annual Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup presented by Porsche Centre PhilippinesHeld from January 26 to February 1, 2009 at the Manila Polo Club, McKinley, Makati City.
Now in it’s sixth year, the annual Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup (EZMPC) remains a highly regarded celebration. The week-long event commemorates Mr. Zobel’s passion for the sport polo. Attendees included many of society’s elite who share the same love of the game. Traditionally, the Zobels also invite members of royal families to play in the event; this year it was Prince Jefri Bahar from Brunei who graced the Cup.
PGA Cars, the official Porsche importer in Philippines was proud to be the presenter for this highly prestigious Cup once again. Together with the Zobel family and the Manila Polo Club (MPC) organizers, every detail of the event was looked into and executed with the highest standards. Right from the very start, all incoming guests were welcomed by an impressive centerpiece at the main entrance – the new Porsche 911 Carrera with Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and the Porsche Cayenne GTS on display at the Pavilion of the Club’s façade.
As one of the main event highlights, this striking display appealed to both young and old alike. From beginning to end, guests were treated to a complete Porsche brand experience that was evident both in the program and awarding ceremonies.
To bring the week-long event to a close, the horses and their riders paraded proudly onto the field – a polo custom. Joining them at the award ceremony were Bianca Zobel and Thorsten Hagel, Technical Training Manager at the Porsche Training and Recruitment Center Asia, who made a grand entrance in a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet.
Following the parade was the salute and Ceremonial Throw-in by Dee Zobel, widow of the late Enrique Zobel, accompanied by the Manila Polo Club President Ramon Y. Dimacali.
After the second game, the winners were honoured by Dee Zobel, Ramon Dimacali and Thorsten Hagel. The presenters arrived in style in a Porsche 911 Carrera and a Porsche Cayenne, and were driven onto the field by Porsche Centre Philippines associates to give away the coveted trophies.
The end of the parade signaled the start of the feast and capped off this highly-successful event.
