The Erzgebirge is known for its old towns, charming villages and traditional crafts. It is also famous for its unique wealth of unspoilt, tranquil scenery, ranging from high ridgeways to countless river valleys – the ideal terrain to explore behind the wheel of a Porsche. And when you reach the mountain tops, you can sit back and enjoy the spectacular views. Despite its importance as a winter sports destination, the Erzgebirge is probably most notable for its history of producing crafts. You will find a whole range of traditional festive gifts such as smoking men incense burners, nutcrackers and Christmas pyramids. You’ll certainly remember this exhilarating Porsche driving experience for a long time to come.
Meet the group at the Porsche facility in Leipzig in the northwest of Saxony. Collect your vehicle, a left-hand drive naturally, and head south for Chemnitz, about 70 km (44 miles) away on the northern edge of the Erzgebirge mountains. Stop for lunch before continuing your tour along a magnificent stretch of road to Hartenstein and your destination for the night: the Hotel Schloss Wolfsbrunn, an Art Nouveau-style building that was lovingly restored in 1998. Upon arrival at this five-star hotel, you will be greeted with a drinks reception followed by a gourmet dinner.
