Porsche - Factory Visit in Leipzig

Factory Visit in Leipzig

Unlike Stuttgart, the Leipzig site has been designed for customer visits and offers the corresponding facilities and attractions, such as the running in and test track or the off-road course fordriver safety training. When these are used for factory visits, vehicles and support staff have to be provided and maintenance costs paid. This means that the costs of factory tours in Leipzig are higher and can no longer be fully paid for by the Porsche Club Coordination. From 2003, we will be offering four types of factory visits in Leipzig:

Tour 1

The factory visit without driving programme is free for Clubs. This tour comprises:

  • the welcome at the Customer Centre
  • the guided tour of the production line
  • the guided tour of the Customer Centre, taking in the track control centre, the exhibited museum vehicles and a cinema presentation
  • lunch in the restaurant of the Customer Centre
  • an invitation to an evening meal
  • optional taxi runs (subject to a charge)

Tour duration:
3-3.5 hours, including lunch

Free for Porsche Clubs

Tour 2

The factory visit with the on-road driving programme is subject to a charge for Clubs. This tour comprises:

  • all modules of tour 1 (excluding taxi runs)
  • in addition, after lunch 10 Cayenne vehicles will be placed at your disposal for one hour for driving on the running-in and test track in the company of an instructor.
  • invitation to an evening meal

Tour duration:
Approx. 4 hours, including lunch

Of course, it is also possible to combine factory visits to Stuttgart and Leipzig, which is certainly an attractive option for Clubs from overseas. Transfers between the plants are possible by coach or air. The flight time is one hour, while the drive by coach obviously takes a little longer. The Club Co-ordination will be happy to pass on the relevant contacts for booking the transfers.

Whatever you decide to do, you should definitely include a visit to the city of Leipzig. It is not only an important exhibition city, but also offers a range of attractions and cultural highlights. One famous site is Aucherbach's Cellar, where Wolfgang Goethe wrote "Faust". Lovers of classical music will get their money's worth at the former workplace of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach, while admirers of fine architecture will also find much to enjoy in the city, including the Renaissance city hall and the late nineteenth-century buildings in the Waldstrasse area.

Visitors will also discover the coffee house traditions in this city, which is full of parks and meadows. Meanwhile, away from the wide range of cultural attractions, the Leipzig "Allerlei" is a local dish of mixed vegetables, which has been well known since the end of the 18th century. As well as the city itself, the area around Leipzig isalso worth a visit.

Anyone planning a longer stay could take a trip to Meißen, which is in the heart of one of the most Northerly wine growing areas and achieved world fame thanks to its porcelain. Alternatively, they could visit Dresden, capital of the Free State of Saxony, and one of Europe's most important cities of culture, with its valuable architectural monuments and art collections.
Or perhaps they might be interested in the Romanesque Road, which links numerous castles and ruined castles.

The Club Coordination will be happy to help you in puttingtogether tours and can also provide assistance in bookinghotels and resaurants.
