To protect the environment, we offer sophisticated technical solutions that mean a Porsche can be driven with a greater proportion of alternative fuel. And yet remain a Porsche.
Ethanol as an alternative to petrolAll of our cars will comply with the strict requirements of the EURO 5 emissions standards well before they come into effect. Already, all Porsche engines can be fuelled with a blend of 10 per cent ethanol and, in fact, the Cayenne –suitable for driving almost anywhere on the planet – can use up to 25 per cent biofuel (ethanol), depending on the country. Our racing engines also use biofuel. The high-performance power unit on the RS Spyder, for example, is designed for a 10 per cent ethanol blend and takes Porsche from victory to victory in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
What is more, we are working on a flexible fuel vehicle (FFV) at our development centre in Weissach that can run on a blend of 85 per cent ethanol, as well as petrol.
Fuel consumption/emissions* of the Cayenne models: Urban in l/100 km 15,8 l / 100 km-8,4 l / 100 km; Extra urban in l/100 km 8,4 l / 100 km-6,5 l / 100 km; Combined in l/100 km 11,5 l / 100 km-7,2 l / 100 km; CO2 emissions in g/km 270 g-189 g.
