Porsche og miljøet

The protection of natural resources, an efficient use of energy as well as the environmental safety and compatibility of our operations and products – these are priority objectives when it comes to Porsche and our ecological responsibility.

Product Responsibility

As a sports cars manufacturer, Porsche sets a high value on a continuous improvement in performance that is accompanied by a consistent reduction of gas consumption. This is why we focus on intelligent lightweight design and aerodynamics, technologies like the direct fuel injection (DFI) or automatic start-stop systems, as well as our own developed innovations like the Porsche duplex clutch (“Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe”/PDK).

In order to protect the environment and improve air quality, Porsche has been investing in alternative drives for many years. By equipping the models Cayenne and Panamera with gasoline-electric power trains, Porsche has been able to achieve considerable improvements concerning the emissions of the vehicle fleet. Compared to other manufacturers of the premium segment, Porsche can be seen as a pioneer when it comes to hybrid technology: The Panamera S E-Hybrid and the super sports car 918 Spyder are the first of their classes to be equipped with a gasoline-electric power train. This is how Porsche assumes its environmental responsibility for the future.

Environment and Energy at Our Sites

In addition to product-related measures, Porsche invested in environmentally friendly production processes at an early state. As a consequence, many experts around the world regard our production as a prime example of efficiency. We set a high value on saving water, energy and raw materials, and pursue our environmental goals with great effort. Since the 1990 years, Porsche’s production site in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen has held an EMAS and ISO 14001 certified environmental management system. Zuffenhausen also is the first production facility of the automobile industry worldwide to comply with the standard ISO 50001 for energy management systems. When planning the construction of the new factory in Leipzig, Porsche put great emphasize on the involvement of environmentally friendly elements like the paint shop system. Soon we will also set up a photovoltaics system on the roof of the body construction building. Measures like these help to make Porsche’s production facility in Leipzig one of the most efficient automobile factories worldwide.
