Yet another success: Porsche is victorious in the LMP2 class in the 24 hours of Le Mans. There were two RS Spyders in the race again this year, driven by the Essex and Goh teams. The Essex team repeated its success of the previous year, taking first place again. Porsche has now recorded four victories in a row in the 24h Nürburgring race. The drivers of the Manthey Racing team’s 480 hp Porsche 911 GT3 RSR prevailed over the second-place Audi by a full lap. Overall, seven of the top ten finishers drove Porsche vehicles.

Finally, another Porsche Cabriolet. A prototype, but with a turbo engine and all-wheel drive, was shown at the 1981 IAA in Frankfurt. Its public reception was overwhelmingly positive. And there was just as much enthusiasm when the Cabriolet with 911-SC technology went into production.
