The World Endurance Championship (WEC) is a new world endurance championship held by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) under the auspices of the FIA. The WEC rules are the same as those used in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for LMP and GTE vehicles. Eight races in all are scheduled for the 2014 season, and two Porsche models will be in the starting line-up: the Porsche 919 Hybrid in the LMP1 class and the Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE Pro class. In each race, the 10 best drivers will be awarded points for the overall ranking. Those drivers finishing lower than 10th place will be awarded half a point. This race point distribution is also used for teams and manufacturers in each class. In contrast to the other WEC competitions, double points are awarded at Le Mans.
