Dubai. Porsche Middle East & Africa will start its new fiscal year under new leadership. Deesch Papke has been appointed the new managing director of Porsche Middle East & Africa FZE, effective 1st July 2005. The 43 year old South African succeeds Mark Bishop, who is currently heading Porsche operations in China. Since 1986, Papke has held various positions within the automotive industry with a variety of leading car Brands in South Africa, Russia and Europe. Now in his new position within Porsche Middle East & Africa, he will concentrate on further developing this key market area for Porsche, which consists of 17 markets including the entire Middle East, the sub-continent, Kenya and South Africa.
Commenting on his new position at the company, Deesch Papke said: “Porsche is the pinnacle of success and the most desirable sports car brand today. As a company, it seeks excitement and quality in all that it does. It is a passionate brand which involves all the senses. Porsche Middle East and Africa has achieved excellent results over the past 6 years, and to be part of this young and dynamic team of Porsche Middle East & Africa is both a privilege and an honor. I am thrilled at the positive growth the brand has enjoyed and I am committed to do all we can to maintain this momentum.”
Since the opening of the Dubai-based regional office in March 1999, Porsche Middle East & Africa has witnessed a significant growth in Porsche’s market share year on year and now ranks as the fifth largest subsidiary worldwide, which is a great achievement. Year to date (August 04 to June 05), the overall sales results in the Middle East & Africa region are 3,571 unites compared to 2,635 units delivered to customers over the same period last year: an impressive growth of 36 percent. Porsche will further increase its presence by opening at least 6 new Porsche Centres in the near future in addition to the current 21 successfully operating Porsche Centres across the region

Porsche is currently enjoying the success of the introduction of its latest generation sports cars, the Boxster and 911 Carrera series, which were received with outstanding response from customers worldwide. All of the company’s three model ranges are contributing to the company’s growth, and the Cayenne is still enjoying strong demand. The Middle East region in this regard continues to enjoy a higher than average growth. This positive market trend bodes well for the future Porsche business in the Middle East and Africa region.
On the horizon we have the introduction of the new all-wheel-drive model variants of the 911 Carrera, from October onwards to markets worldwide, which will enhance the attractiveness of the 911 series. Of particular importance is the introduction of the all new mid-engined coupé Cayman S which is to be launched at the end of November. The addition of this model variant with the excellent dynamic driving qualities of a mid-engined sports car will give the sports car range further momentum.
