Herbert Ampferer appointed as Environmental Officer of Porsche AG Hartmut Kristen new provisional head of Motor Sport division

Stuttgart. The Executive Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has appointed its current head of the Motor Sport division, Herbert Ampferer (54), as the Company's new Environmental Officer. Ampferer is succeeding Prof. Dusan Gruden (65), who has headed the main environment and energy unit at the Weissach Development Centre (WDC) since 1997, and is now taking retirement.

After more than 13 years on the world's racetracks, Ampferer now wishes to meet new professional challenges. Born in Austria, Ampferer joined the Company in 1970 as a detail design engineer in the engine development/construction department. After holding several positions in the WDC (including head of engine construction/development), he moved to the Motor Sport division in 1991. There, he became the provisional head in 1995, becoming the full manager one year later. The crowning achievement of his professional career as the head of Motor Sport was in 1998, with the Porsche GT1 double victory in total ranking in the Le Mans 24 hours.

Hartmut Kristen (49), responsible for customer sport and special and racecar projects since 1994, is also assuming provisional management of the Motor Sport division from 1 May 2004. Born in Berlin, Kristen joined Porsche in 1983 in the marketing department. In 1991, he moved to the US as Vice President of Porsche AG's largest sales and marketing company, Porsche Cars North America. From 1992 until his move to the WDC, he was head of marketing for Porsche AG.
