On day three, the focus is once again on your driving pleasure. Set off along the winding roads through the Bavarian lakeland scenery to Murnau on Lake Staffelsee, where you break for lunch and enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains.
Continue along the German Alpine Road, which takes you past a number of mountain lakes and quaint villages with a special charm all of their own, as well as a host of magnificent castles and palaces.
One of these is the legendary fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle built by King Ludwig II, which you can explore at your leisure before checking in at the Berghotel Schlossanger Alp. Soak up the idyllic atmosphere of this charming mountain hotel – and relax over a leisurely dinner in the evening.
Drive through the Allgäu towards the mighty Alps, heralded by the sight of the Hochtannberg Pass at a height of 1,679 metres.
