Stuttgart. In the just-ended fiscal year of 2006/07 (July 31, 2007), in spite of the model change in the Cayenne model series,
Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, almost matched the extremely high figure for the previous year of 36,669 units on the North American market with a total of 35,398 vehicles delivered to customers; figures were down by only 3%. Above all, this success was thanks to the 911 series, which set a new sales record in the US and Canada, and the new Cayenne. The launch of the second generation of the sporty, all-terrain vehicle in March 2007 boosted sales in North America considerably. Thus, in May, June and July, Porsche recorded the highest monthly figures in the history of the Company for its biggest sales market three times in a row.
Overall, 13,222 units of the 911 were sold in the US and Canada in the fiscal year of 2006/07 – a 5% increase year-on-year. The Cayenne was on target with 11,739 deliveries (down 11%), though production of the first generation of the sporty, all-terrain vehicle was discontinued in November 2006 and the new Cayenne was launched more than three months later. Deliveries for the Boxster model series declined 3% to 10,423 vehicles; the Cayman and the Cayman S accounted for a total of 6,561 of these units.
In July 2007, the last month of fiscal 2006/07, the manufacturer of sporty, premium vehicles delivered 3,414 units in North America. The growth as against the previous year amounts to 2%. The Cayenne generated a considerable increase, with sales climbing by 31% in July to 1,245 vehicles. The Boxster was down by 11% to 1,086 units, with the Cayman and the Cayman S accounting for 661 of these. With 1,083 vehicles sold in July, the 911 was just 6% below the excellent figure recorded in the previous year.
