Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany, is among the most popular potential employers in Europe. This is the upshot of a survey of just under 16,500 students at 100 universities in 16 European countries, carried out by consulting firm Universum Communications.
Students of engineering and natural sciences are particularly keen on Porsche: after the Google IT corporation, the Stuttgart-based sports-car manufacturer took second place. Porsche came top of the employer wish list for 12.41 percent of the students surveyed. Among economists, Porsche was rated eighth: 9.91 percent of economics students cited the sports-car manufacturer as their dream employer. McKinsey was top of their lists.
The results of this study are consistent with other surveys carried out by other consulting firms, in that Porsche regularly ranks in the top echelons, both at national and European level.
Thomas Edig, Member of the Executive Board for Human Resources at Porsche AG, said: “Our company offers attractive products and has a long-term strategic vision. These factors, combined with our flat hierarchies and resolutely practical approach, obviously make Porsche very attractive to graduates.”
Where staff recruitment is concerned, Edig intends to exploit growing internationalization: “Competition for the best talent is becoming increasingly fierce. As a result, we are increasingly searching for the next generation of academics not only in Germany, but also in other European countries.” And he is not ruling out the possibility of extending the search to other continents in future. According to Edig, Asia is producing a generation of excellent engineers and business economists who complete internships in Germany at an early stage and also learn the language, making them attractive to employers like Porsche.
There are currently around 300 positions up for grabs across the Porsche Group, half of which are in the engineering domain. Porsche Consulting and the Porsche IT services company Mieschke Hofmann und Partner are also expanding and on the lookout for a total of 80 new consultants.
