The vote covered cars from the year 1984. The Stuttgart-based specialist magazine Motor Klassik, which is the old-timer magazine belonging to “auto motor und sport”, asked its readers to vote for their classics of the future in various vehicle categories. A total of 13,780 readers cast their votes and selected a product from Zuffenhausen as the winner in both the Sports Car and Cabrio categories. The Porsche 911 Turbo won the Sports Car category with 29.4 % of the votes, while the 911 Carrera Cabrio collected 26.3 % of the votes and also swept to first place.
In response to the question which current sports car had the potential to be a classic of the future, 14 % of the readers chose the Carrera GT, which also gave it first place. But only just, because the car in second place collected 13.6 % of the readers’ votes: the current 911.
