After painting, the bodies are transported to the 2nd floor of the assembly area. To enable identification of the vehicle throughout the assembly process an electronic ID system is deployed via which the precise location of every Porsche in the assembly process can be determined.
In order to improve accessibility to the inside of the vehicle and to optimise the flow of the overall production process, the doors are first of all removed from the painted body here and transported to a separate pre-assembly area on the 1st floor.
The cockpits are pre-assembled in parallel with the assembly line. Instruments, switch units, radio and navigation unit, pedals and wiring harnesses round off the cockpit carrier unit. The cockpits are then installed in the vehicles on the assembly line. Each cockpit is assigned to a specific vehicle in accordance with the customer's specifications.
