Stuttgart. In May 2006, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, sold 3,541 vehicles in North America. Thus, the manufacturer of premium sports cars has again nearly matched the record level of 3,567 units sold in the previous year (minus 0.7 percent) in its most important sales market. In the first five months of 2006, Porsche increased deliveries to the US and Canada by 14.9 percent to 16,652 vehicles. This is the highest volume for this period in the history of the Company. Sales will experience further growth stimulus in the coming summer months when the 911 Turbo is launched.
Porsche's growth course in North America continues to be driven by the sports car model series. Sales of the 911 increased by seven percent to 1,166 vehicles. The Boxster series saw even stronger growth with an increase of 20 percent to 1,265 units, 587 of which were the new Cayman S.
Cayenne deliveries remained at a high level. Sales of the sporty all-terrain vehicle which have hovered around the 1,000 mark since the beginning of the year, reached 1,102 vehicles in May. This represents a fall of 20 percent compared to the previous year.
