Stuttgart. The sports car manufacturer Porsche handed over 11,888 new cars to customers in September 2012, thus achieving an increase of 12.6 percent compared to the same month last year. So far this year, the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG has sold a total of 104,362 vehicles - an increase of 14.7 percent compared to 90,972 deliveries during the period of January to September 2011.
“In September, Porsche continues to grow at the global level”, as Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG, comments. “We keep a cool head and continue driving by sight. This demonstrates the success of our international demand-driven sales management. Even in challenging times, we remain true to our business model.”
In September 2012, Porsche excelled on the Chinese market, with 2,818 deliveries to customers - an increase of 31.3 percent compared to the same month last year. In the United States, the previous year's figure was exceeded by 26.1 percent: the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer delivered 2,736 vehicles to customers. As expected, European deliveries weakened slightly in year-on-year terms. However, sales varied greatly by country: In Russia, deliveries rose by more than 90 percent. With 1,325 units sold in the home market of Germany, the previous year's results for September were nearly reached.
The world's most highly demanded model of the sports car manufacturer in September 2012 was the Cayenne: 6,495 were handed over to customers worldwide. Of the third generation of the Boxster, Porsche delivered 1,120 vehicles - an increase of 71.8 percent compared to September 2011. The 911 model range also did better over the previous year: 1,809 sales of the iconic sports car represent an increase of 22.2 percent compared to September of last year.
