The appeal of the far north for a driving enthusiast:
the sun never goes down.
Finnmark – a region in the ‘land of the midnight sun’. With 24 hours of daylight in the summer and a number of natural spectacles, it is the perfect location for an unforgettable adventure on the edge of the Arctic Ocean. In particular, when combined with the pleasure of driving a Porsche Cayenne or Macan. Through unspoilt countryside that is home to more reindeer than people, past deep fjords and through spectacular scenery. Watch this swathe of land come to life in front of your eyes, presenting a very different perspective in the summer when it is not covered by snow and ice.
Equally impressive is the programme of first-rate local activities such as king crab fishing, a bird safari, a journey back in time to the Viking age and a midnight visit to the North Cape. All of this is sure to keep excitement levels high, even when you are not behind the wheel of a Porsche.
Individual arrival at Kittilä Airport in the far north of Finland, where you will be greeted and taken to the ski resort of Levi – the starting point of your tour. Spend the night at the Hotel Levi Panorama. The views from your well-appointed room of the town of Levi and spectacular surrounding countryside, in particular, are sure to delight. In the evening, get to know the rest of the group over a welcome dinner in preparation for the days ahead.
The next morning, you collect your Porsche for the tour and set off on the first leg to Karasjok. After just a few miles, you’re likely to catch a glimpse of some local wildlife: in summer, the reindeer leave the warm, humid forests and venture as far as the small isolated villages.
Towards the afternoon, you arrive at the Rica Hotel in Karasjok – where you will be greeted in traditional style with a Sami dinner around an open fire. Afterwards, those wishing to gain a deeper insight into the Sami way of life can visit the nearby Sápmi Park and museum.
After a good night’s sleep, you take to the wheel again and drive along the unspoilt Norwegian coast towards Honningsvåg. From the winding coastal roads you’ll regularly catch breathtaking views of tranquil fishing villages and the crystal-clear waters of the ocean.
For lunch, there’s a culinary highlight: a selection of fresh king crab caught on a king crab safari.
Upon arrival in Honningsvåg, check in at the Rica Bryggen Hotel. In the afternoon, you set off again to take the boat to the Gjesværstappan Nature Reserve – a paradise for nature lovers and rare birds alike. Here, you can observe puffins, cormorants and sea eagles in their natural habitat.
The bird safari is followed by the main attraction of the tour: the North Cape. You’ll find it difficult to tear your gaze away – but then you won’t have to. After a guided tour of the museum, you can relax over dinner at the Panorama restaurant with wonderful views of the Cape. The midnight sun shows off the wild and romantic side of the North Cape at its best – a very special spectacle of nature that is sure to be etched into your memory for many years to come.
After a late breakfast, it’s time to take to the wheel of your Porsche Cayenne or Macan once again for the journey through the breathtaking countryside to Alta. Spend the night at the Rica Hotel Alta where you can relax over dinner in the cosy restaurant.
The following day, you travel along the Norwegian coast on several ferries to the islands. Your destination: the Norwegian town of Tromsø. In a central location right by the harbour, the Rica Ishavshotel is conveniently situated for exploring the local attractions.
On the final day of the tour, you set off back to Levi, driving once again through the impressive countryside along the border between Norway and Finland. After checking in again at the Hotel Levi Panorama, you will have a further opportunity to explore the town at your leisure. The hotel has its own cable car which takes you right into the town centre. In the evening, meet up with the rest of the group for a farewell dinner and the chance to share your experiences of the past few days.
Transfer to Kittilä Airport for individual departure, taking home with you a wealth of lasting memories.
Naturally, you can extend your stay if you wish, e.g. with a round of golf in the sun – or the midnight sun.
