The appeal of the far north for a driving enthusiast:
the sun never goes down.
Namibia, a land full of contrasts. More than twice as large as Germany, it is also the least densely populated country in the world with just under 2.2 million inhabitants. With its unspoilt landscapes, a variety of wildlife and a unique blend of African and European influences, Namibia is a truly fascinating destination. A land waiting to be explored. On the water, by air – or on land, in a Porsche Cayenne.
Upon individual arrival at Hosea Kutako Airport, you will be greeted and taken to your accommodation in Windhoek. After checking into your room at the elegant Hotel Heinitzburg, the rest of the afternoon is free to spend as you please. In the evening, relax over dinner in the hotel’s wine cellar – the largest private wine cellar in Namibia. Enjoy a range of local and international specialities, accompanied by selected South African wines.
The next morning, we will introduce you to your sporty travelling companion for the next few days: a Porsche Cayenne. Just a few miles outside of Windhoek, the tarmac roads give way to a gravel track. The first highlight: the Spreetshoogte Pass from which you can marvel at breathtaking views of the Namib Desert and the adjoining mountain ranges. As you pass through Solitaire, you come to Namibia’s largest private national park, the NamibRand Nature Reserve.
Spend the night at the Wolwedans Dunes Lodge. Surrounded by the beauty of the desert, the level of service and comfort offered here leaves nothing to be desired.
After recharging your batteries, it’s time for the next highlight: a visit to the world-famous sand dunes at Sossusvlei and the Dead Vlei. As soon as the sun comes up, we set off into the Namib Desert to enjoy the magnificent interplay between light and shadow. After the walks, we serve you breakfast under the acacia trees. Return to your lodge to spend the afternoon by the pool or take an excursion in the surrounding region.
The next day, you drive along the gravel tracks through the Namib-Naukluft National Park and along the Gaub and Kuiseb Pass to Swakopmund on the Namibian coast. The influence of the German colonial era is still very much in evidence here today. Spend the night at the Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre.
Start the following day with a magnificent boat trip around the lagoons of Walvis Bay. While savouring fresh oysters and snacks, you can watch the dolphins, seals and seabirds up close. The rest of the afternoon is free to spend as you please. In the evening, enjoy dinner in one of the city’s famous fish restaurants.
The next morning, you take to the wheel once again for the drive along a salt route, heading inland via Henties Bay. You then continue past Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg Massif, towards Damaraland. Along the way, you stop to visit the rock engravings and paintings at Twyfelfontein. In the late afternoon, you arrive at your destination for the night: the Mowani Mountain Lodge. The spectacular sunset over the granite boulders is an impressive sight to behold and brings this eventful day to a fitting conclusion.
You then set off on safari in your Porsche Cayenne. The route takes you to Etoscha National Park, one of the largest of its kind in the world. On its southern edge lies the private Ongava game reserve. Set against a backdrop of magnificent countryside is the luxurious Ongava Lodge, where you will spend the night. Over dinner you can enjoy incredible views of a watering hole frequented by various species of game.
You’ll see even more animals in the wild the next day on a full-day safari through the Etoscha National Park, which is home to elephants, giraffes, rhinos, lions and leopards, to name but a few. The biodiversity here is guaranteed to impress, as is your accommodation for the next two nights: Onguma The Fort, an incredible lodge affording views of the Etoscha Pan.
Today, you have the opportunity to review the wealth of experiences from the previous days at your leisure and enjoy the highlights on offer in your luxury accommodation. Alternatively, you can take another safari tour.
On the final day of your tour, you set off back along the tarmac roads to Windhoek. Spend a final night at Hotel Heinitzburg.
Return transfer to the airport for your individual departure time, taking with you a wealth of memories to treasure.
