FIA GT3 European Championship

Right in the first year of its release, the Porsche 911 GT3 R impressively proofed it’s competitiveness: In 2010 Porsche factory driver Marco Holzer and his team mate Paul van Splunteren won with this by Prospeed Competition introduced race car immediately the team championship and the driver runner-up.

Also in 2012 several teams are fielding the race car featuring a 480 hp six-cylinder boxer engine.

The series was launched in 2006 as support to the FIA GT Championship, created as a cost-effective series for private teams. Production-based GT vehicles from various manufacturers' one-make series line up on the grid. 2012 the championship starts its seventh season with the same number of events. The champion is determined during six race weekends. Each of them hold two one-hour championship races with one mandatory driver change per race.

Between the season kick-off on April 8th in Nogaro, France and the season final at Dutch Circuit Park Zandvoort on October 7th, the GT cars compete in the Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Russia.
