Team Porsche China 2008

On 11th July, twenty Cayenne S Transsyberia set out on the long 7,000 kilometre journey from the Red Square, in Moscow, to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The Porsche China contingent powered by Jebsen and FCACA is up against experienced marathon teams in vehicles from Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Puch, Suzuki and Toyota who have also set their sights on winning. Jebsen started as a general trading company in Hong Kong and has evolved into a focused marketing and distribution organisation. FCACA was set up in 2007 with the intention of promoting and succeeding to compete in Motorsports at an International level.

This year, the Porsche China Team is competing in the Transsyberia Rally and are hoping, naturally, to achieve another first by winning this grueling fortnight rally, ending 25th July. “Porsche’s impressive wins in last year’s Transsyberia Rally where a Cayenne took the top three positions, including an overall ranking of eight of the top 10 positions, is ample testimony to the quality, excellence and superior performance of the marque’s vehicles.” said Mr. Helmut Broeker, Managing Director Porsche China – Jebsen & Co. (China) Motors Ltd., “I wish the Porsche China Team every success and a win at this Transsyberia Rally 2008 would certainly be a wonderful victory and especially for Porsche China.”

The China team comprises of Mr. Luo Ding, as driver, and Mr. Eddie Keng, as co-driver. Mr. Luo Ding, a Chinese national, is a three-time participant in the Paris-Dakar Rally and will be the first ever Chinese driver to participate in the Transsyberia Rally. Mr. Luo has vast experience in rally driving, having competed in numerous events in and outside of China. Mr. Eddie Keng, from Singapore, was the driver for Team Asia Pacific at last year’s Transsyberia Rally and has participated in various cross-country drive events.

This is the second time that the Transsyberia Rally has taken place and is considered one of the world’s toughest off-road rallies. Both participants and their vehicles will be relentlessly challenged by the rough, punishing terrain, and have to pass several tests over hundreds of kilometres. Even professionals and previous champions will be pushed to the limits of their skill and ingenuity in crossing mountains, deserts, rivers and the muddy Siberian lowlands.
