“Fascination Porsche” returns, coming to Shanghai for the first timePorsche to host fourth anniversary of spectacular driving and heritage event in Shanghai and Beijing

Shanghai/Beijing. Porsche will host its “Fascination Porsche” weekend in Shanghai for the first time from May 19 through May 20 and then return to Beijing for the fourth time from June 8 through June 10. At the Shanghai International Circuit and the Beijing Goldenport Circuit, more than 1,000 customers, enthusiasts and members of the media will enjoy a wide array of driving experiences behind the wheels of the full model range of premium Porsche cars, including the new 911. Coming all the way from the Porsche museum in Stuttgart, Germany, a special collection of vintage and contemporary models will also be displayed in a unique Porsche Museum, as well as in a Heritage Car Parade. In true “Fascination Porsche” tradition, the weekend will close with another demonstration of motoring excellence: hot laps on the track driven by racers car from the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA), the region’s premier racing series that just entered its tenth season.

As in previous years, “Fascination Porsche” activities are all designed to provide an entertaining and educational day out. Guests enjoy short courses on sports car handling, simulated racing games, and even — for the children among the enthusiasts — the chance to pilot Porsche pedal cars on the tailor-made circuit of the Porsche Kids Driving School. This time in Beijing, guests will also have the opportunity to participate in an off-road driving module and undergo g-Force training from the Porsche Sport Driving School.

Showcasing Porsche’s long history in motorsport around the world, the specially created Porsche Museum and Heritage Car Parade will draw from an elegant ensemble of some of the most famous cars in Porsche history. Included among the 13 Porsche cars in the exhibition will be the very first Porsche car ever, the Porsche 356 Coupe; the incredible 917 Gulf that claimed the first overall victory for Porsche at Le Mans in 1971; the rugged 911 Turbo that won the Paris-Dakar Rally from Europe to the tip of Africa in 1984; and Porsche’s latest racecar, the RS Spyder. Unique this year, the collection will also include a special display on Porsche Identity, showing the evolution of the legendary 911 over the past nearly 50 years through each of the seven generations. Several of those models, including the new 911, will later bring that progress to life, celebrating Porsche history in the Heritage Car Parade. PCCA racers will then take several lucky guests on hot laps around the track in Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Cars, demonstrating the best in Porsche motorsport.

Mr. Helmut Broeker, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche China, said: “We are so proud to bring the ‘Fascination Porsche’ weekend to Shanghai for the first time and for the fourth time to Beijing. This special event not only brings to life our belief that you can only truly experience the outstanding performance of our sports cars on the track; it will demonstrate how we continue building on our more than 60 years of heritage in motorsport to create unique Porsche experiences in China for all of our loyal customers.”

“Fascination Porsche” is made possible in partnership with Honma, Mobil 1, UNICEF, Auto Motor und Sport, Michelin and Budweiser.
