Porsche faith in growth of sports car market in China rewarded with decade of successBright prospects ahead as Porsche China celebrates ten years in China

Shanghai. Ever since the first Porsche Centre in Beijing opened in 2001, Porsche China has been making history. After planting the seeds of sports car culture in China in 2001, a decision made in faith, Porsche is now the dream car of the most selective customers in China, who value the high performance, innovation and style which are imbedded in the Porsche DNA.

The first Porsche Centre in China sold 27 cars in its first year. With the increase in local appreciation of the marque, there is now a thriving network of 31 Porsche Centres throughout the country which sold 14,785 cars in 2010, making China the company's second largest market in the world. Local interest in sports cars and motorsport will continue to rise as Porsche China takes over operation of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, held on racetracks all over the region in 2011.

Porsche began collaborating with UNICEF in 2009, delivering educational supplies and other aid to earthquake ravaged areas of China. These and other corporate social responsibility programmes in support of education and the arts will continue and expand in the future. The automotive press has also been generous with their praise in recognising Porsche achievements over the past decade, bestowing no fewer than 50 major awards.

To commemorate ten years in China, Porsche will launch the Porsche 911 10 Year Anniversary Edition exclusively in China, including a sneak preview of the new 911 on 20 April. The celebration will continue throughout 2011, as the 10th Anniversary event hosted by Porsche China will be held in the middle of May, commencing a full season of local anniversary parties at Porsche Centres across the country which will last through September, culminating in a final event to be held in Shanghai to conclude an exciting series of festivities. Porsche Design Driver’s Selection will be releasing stylish limited edition gear for customers and friends to participate in this memorable anniversary.

Today, Porsche and its racing spirit are recognised across China. Porsche sportscars are made in faith, and their positive reception in China is a tribute to the hard work of Porsche partners as well as the appreciation of loyal customers and fans. But 10th anniversary celebrations are not only intended to celebrate past accomplishments, but also present an opportunity for boldly looking to the future. Porsche’s faith in the spread of motorsport culture across China means that Porsche China will continue to grow, expand and deliver the best in sports car technology and service to its friends across the country.
