Racing spirit of Porsche displayed for thousands in China’s SouthwestPorsche lights up the Chengdu Motor Show with latest models
Shanghai/Chengdu. Porsche attended the esteemed Chengdu Motor Show from September 18-24 in typically attractive style with the featured launch of the new Porsche 911 Carrera S Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. As one of the six stunning Porsche models on display, this exclusive China-only model drew crowds of Porsche enthusiasts to the capital of Sichuan Province. Porsche proved to be an undoubted highlight of the sevenday event which attracted more than 350,000 motor enthusiasts to the New International Convention and Exposition Centre in Chengdu. The event marks an important step for Porsche in consolidating its presence in China’s Southwest region.
Marking the first joint appearance from Porsche Centre Chengdu and Porsche Centre Chongqing at the event, the Porsche stand offered a most impressive spectacle, covering more than 700 square meters and spread over two floors. Featured models were the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne S and the new V6 version of the Panamera Gran Turismo, with two 911 Carrera S Porsche Carrera Cup Asia models proving to be a hugely popular draw for attendees.
As a limited edition of just 30 models, the 911 Carrera S Porsche Carrera Cup Asia has been designed especially for the China market. Boasting the designation of the famed Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA), a racing event that has captured the hearts of motor sport fans across the country since its launch here in 2003, this latest addition to the 911 family sets a new benchmark for performance and exclusivity. The new model is a stunning embodiment of the racing spirit that has made the one-make series so hugely popular, while also incorporating the customary innovative technological features that are to be expected from the world’s foremost luxury sports car manufacturer.
The 911 Carrera S Porsche Carrera Cup Asia is undoubtedly a model that was born on the race track. Producing an impressive output of 283 Kw (385 bhp) through a 3.8 litre power unit it features a launch control function with its Sports Chrono Package. Also incorporating the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), this model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds to a top speed of 300km/h. The Sports Chrono Plus package gives this 911 model the feel of a true motor racing legend, with colourful features such as a stop-watch set into the central console, adaptive sports seats (sports bucket seats available as optional) and the Carrera S logo on the carbon fibre door sill guards. The exterior also makes an impression, with a colour choice of Carrara White, Black or Guards Red complementing features such as high quality race decals, while the Tequipment Aerokit Cup Package and 19-inch Sports Design Wheels optimise performance and aerodynamics.
